It really comes down to expertise. As a team of lighting professionals that specialize in wedding and event lighting, we know how to provide the quality, design, and experience our clients need, not only for an incredible event but also stunning photos and videos to cherish for years to come. It’s the same reason you wouldn’t hire your florist to also provide catering – while some basic skills may exist in both arenas, your special day warrants expertise.

Pro tip: Did you know that some types of lighting that look good in person do NOT photograph well? Can you imagine having your wedding photos ruined because of bad lighting?! Ugh, this hurts our hearts.

We can’t – BUT we promise this is a good thing! We know you can easily and inexpensively pick up some lights from Amazon or one of the local big box stores (or maybe you already have a few totes full in the garage). However, the quality of those materials is SO different than what we provide. We are very particular about the lights we use. There are a lot of reasons for that, but here are just a few of them:

  1. Not all lights photograph the same. I know this sounds kind of crazy, but many features such as the bulb material, type of light source, brightness, etc. impact the way that the lights appear in your photos. Having beautiful photos to cherish is so important and we know that your lighting needs to look just as spectacular in your photos as they do in person. *Pro tip: hiring a photographer that knows how to capture the lighting is also important – we’ll talk about that during your consult too! Bonus!
  2. We use only our lights so that we can be confident that they will create the right ambiance for your event. Features such as the color tone, brightness, and lighting density are so important for creating the perfect lighting design. Not all lights are created equal.
  3. Many of our lights can be custom-cut or adjusted to create the perfect layout. This is so important for that polished, professional look you deserve. You won’t have unsightly plugs in weird spots or strands that are too long – our OCD just couldn’t handle that.
  4. The visual appearance of the lights is very important – but it’s not the only thing factored into your design. We also must account for the structural aspects like making sure the poles or anchors used can support the weight of the lights, knowing whether support cable is needed, ensuring that the setup will be safe, and more. We know all the nitty gritty details about our materials so we can be certain they’ll perform the way they should.

We totally get it – you’re handy, have a keen eye for design, and access to materials. Seems like the right combo to pull off doing your own lighting. So why not? Well…if you haven’t read the bulleted list above, please do! Now, if your response to that list wasn’t, “Ugh, okay. I get it.” and you’re still tempted to DIY this, here is something to think about: You know how you want your special day to LOOK…but how do you want it to FEEL? Do you want your friends and family (or yourself – yikes!) to be spending the day setting up lights or do you want them spending it with YOU – laughing, relaxing, and creating magical memories? Do you want to be stressing about whether things are being done right or would it feel amazing to know that everything is handled by a pro and all you have to do is show up and enjoy it? The very best recommendation we could give our DIYers is this: DIY your little heart out with all the things that can be done BEFORE your big day – that personal touch can be stunning (and budget-friendly). But if you can, let a professional handle the important things that must be done the day of the event (or even within a few days prior) so you can spend that time enjoying your loved ones rather than fussing with the details.

We don’t do rentals at this time but check back later as we are always striving to add new options that may benefit our customers.

We require a deposit to schedule plus an additional payment at 90 days and full balance paid 30 days prior to your event. We will provide you with a detailed contract that includes the exact payment schedule with amounts.

Our prices depend on a variety of factors, which is why we provide you with a customized quote after a thorough design consultation. We will also ask for details related to setup and removal requirements and timelines. This enables us to give you the best price possible and to tailor the design to your needs – both style and budget.

Total pricing depends on the design and scope of the project which is why we meet with you in person to work through those details and to make sure we fully understand your goals and needs. The more information you can provide for us during your design consultation, the better. We know one of the toughest questions to answer if you’re new to event lighting is how much to budget, which is why our designers will work closely with you to develop a proper budget that we can work within. Our wedding/event lighting services start at $800; to date, we’ve done event lighting projects ranging from modest but tasteful designs near our $800 minimum to elaborate projects over $20,000 and everywhere in between. Our average project is around $3,600.

While we want to provide some numbers here for you, we realize they really don’t mean much until they’re tied to a design. Like most custom services, there is a huge range of options at varying price points so the best place to start is to meet with one of our talented designers so we can start working toward the right options for your unique needs, budget, and venue.

For most venues, the lighting permanently installed indoors is intended to provide thorough and even lighting throughout the space to accommodate a variety of activities and layouts. While this generic, multi-purpose approach means you’re unlikely to have dark corners creating safety concerns, it leaves much to be desired in terms of intentional aesthetics and functions that are unique to your event – specifically creating the ideal ambiance, highlighting key décor or focal points, and guiding guests through the space while curating the memorable experience you’ve envisioned. Absolutely! Backyard weddings are some of our favorites because we really get to be creative in a new space as we blend your style and preferences with gorgeous lighting that checks all the boxes for aesthetics, mood, function, and safety.

Great question! We wouldn’t necessarily recommend adding just any lighting…but lighting by Silver Bells, absolutely! The reason for this is that not all lighting looks as good as it should during the daytime to warrant inclusion in your budget if your outdoor event ends before dusk. Type and quality really matter here. Similarly, not all lighting can enhance outdoor daytime photography. Expertise in daytime event lighting is crucial here, so we’re glad you found us! Not only do we offer some gorgeous lighting options that do look great during the day (both in person and photos), but our skilled team of designers will also assess your space and create a custom lighting design that is worth the investment.
